Art forms of nature

I was just watching a program about Darwin and his theories and as it turns out, one of his biggest fans was Ernst Haeckel- an eminent German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species. I thought his name sounded familiar and of course- he wrote and illustrated the book- Art forms of nature. Here are a few examples of this genius' work. I love the bright colours with black backgrounds.

What a great idea

I really love the work of Katie Runnels- I posted pictures of her amazing bell jars a while back, but now have stumbled upon these fantastic yarn wreaths that she also makes- what a talent!

Lucky me!

A few weeks ago, my friend Amber and I
(and our lovely husbands of course!)
indulged in the ultimate luxury- high tea at the newly refurbished
Oyster Box Hotel. It is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful
hotels in South Africa- I did not want to leave!

Hi everyone - I am back!

Sorry for the extended period of non posting- here are some pics of my latest product- I am loving the more masculine, dirty colours. By the way- my brooches are now for sale at Fat
